Chasing My Dream: Training for the Boston Marathon as a 47 Year Old Mom

I am so excited to share with you my journey as a 47 year old mom training for the Boston Marathon.

For those who may not know, the Boston Marathon is a prestigious 26.2 mile race that takes place annually on Patriots’ Day in April. It is known for its challenging course and strict qualifying standards, making it a major accomplishment for any runner to participate in.

Finding the time and energy to train for a marathon has not been easy. However, I have always been an avid runner and have completed several marathons in the past, plus many other race distances. So when qualified for the Boston Marathon last year (at Snickers Marathon in March), I knew I had to go for it.

I began my training in the December, following a training plan that includes long runs, speed work, hill work, and strength training. Balancing my training with my work and family commitments has been a challenge, but I have found motivation in the support of my loved ones and the sense of accomplishment I feel with each successful training run.

Training for the Boston Marathon has been a journey filled with challenges, but it has also been incredibly rewarding. I have learned so much about myself and my capabilities, and have been reminded of the importance of determination and hard work.

I am grateful for the opportunity to run the Boston Marathon and can’t wait to see what the future holds. Until next time, happy running!
